NABP Drug Distributor Accreditation
Bloodworth Wholesale Drugs holds active Drug Distributor Accreditation from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), formerly known as VAWD (Verified Accredited Wholesale Distributors). This is the highest independent accreditation available to wholesale pharmaceutical distributors and requires a comprehensive on-site inspection of facilities, policies, and procedures.

DSCSA Compliance — Every Unit Traced
Bloodworth operates in full compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), including the serialized product tracing requirements that took effect in November 2023. Every transaction includes complete Transaction Information (TI), Transaction History (TH), and Transaction Statement (TS) data transmitted electronically through Tracelink at the unit level.
Controlled Substance Stewardship
The distribution of controlled substances carries a weight that we do not take lightly. Federal regulation requires a verified Know-Your-Customer process before any controlled substance order is released, and Bloodworth policy holds that standard without exception for every account regardless of size or tenure.
We verify DEA registration, collect a Power of Attorney designation, and confirm the identity of the owner or pharmacist in charge by phone before anything ships. This process exists because the communities our customers serve deserve a supply chain that is as accountable as the practitioners at the end of it.
What is required before a first controlled substance order
- Copy of current DEA Certificate of Registration (DEA Form 223)
- Power of Attorney (POA) designating the individual authorized to order Schedule II controlled substances on behalf of your facility
- Completion of the BWD Know-Your-Customer questionnaire
- Verification call with a Bloodworth compliance team member, confirming the owner or PIC listed on the application by phone before any controlled substance release
For our protection and yours, controls are not approved at intake. A Bloodworth team member will verify your application by phone before any controlled substance order is released.
Suspicious Order Monitoring (SOM)
Every order is reviewed against documented thresholds for quantity, frequency, and pattern. Orders that meet or exceed threshold criteria are held for review before they ship and reported to the DEA when required. Our SOM program is independently audited as part of our NABP accreditation. We don’t publish our thresholds, but we’ll tell you the program exists, it’s documented, and it’s current.
Policies & Procedures
Bloodworth maintains a comprehensive Policies & Procedures Manual covering all aspects of our wholesale operations including ordering, receiving, storage, temperature control, controlled substance handling, suspect product identification, recall management, customer verification, and suspicious order monitoring. The manual is reviewed and updated regularly and is available to credentialed customers and qualified compliance reviewers upon request.
